Stolac

Stolac is situated on the route linking the mountainous part of Bosnia with the coastal region and Dubrovnik. The road runs from Sarajevo via Mostar, Stolac, Ljubinje and Trebinje, and Dubrovnik.  A local NGO helps women recover from the scars of war.  Here they were serving sweets and pomegranate juice.

Wash tubs in Stolac, there's a pipe in the bottom and the stream flows up through the tub.
Gardens and a small trout farm

Thanks to the town's favorable natural environment Stolac has been settled since ancient times.  The area has been settled for at least 15,000 years, as evidenced by the markings in Badanj Cave, which experts have dated 12,000 - 16,000 BCE.  Three kilometers west of Stolac is a stećak necropolis, Radimlja, dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. These stećak tombstones are carved with epitaphs, detailed portraits of the deceased, and motifs such as grape vines, hunting scenes, and wild animals.
